Swallowtail Sympathy Card – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s project is a clean and simple sympathy card featuring the Swallowtail stamp from Stampin’ Up!  This card was created in honor of my dear friend who passed away last week.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and the rest of her family.  I hope that this card will bring a small moment of comfort to them as they deal with their loss.

Swallowtail Sympathy Card (5 of 5)I started this card by adhering a panel of Blackberry Bliss to a Rich Razzleberry card base.  You can’t see that very well in the picture, but in person the blackberry bliss mat for the butterfly panel adds a little extra contrast.  next I stamped the Swallowtail image on a panel of Whisper White card stock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Swallowtail Sympathy Card (4 of 5)I used the resist technique to sponge over my embossed design with Rich Razzleberry ink.  Then I wiped the embossed image with a paper towel to remove the ink that had stuck to the embossing.  Next, I stamped the “With Sympathy” sentiment from the Bloom with Hope stamp set (hostess reward) in Blackberry Bliss ink.

Swallowtail Sympathy Card (3 of 5)

Finally, I tied a bow with Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ cotton ribbon around my white panel and adhered it to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Swallowtail Sympathy Card (6 of 5)

For the inside of my card, I stamped the sentiment from Bloom with Hope in Blackbery Bliss ink.  Then I added some butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set in Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss ink.  I used the same stamps to add some butterflies to the envelope too.

Swallowtail Sympathy Card (7 of 5)

I think the image of a butterfly is perfect for a sympathy card.  Butterflies are a symbol of transformation.  This card brings me a little peace as I think about the passage from this life into the next.  I know my friend is in a place of love and serenity now.

Happy Stamping! Heather

Sorry for the delay…

Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you a quick update to let you know why my regular blogging schedule has been interrupted this week. I’ve started a new job, which has put me behind with my blogging. However, I have not forgotten about the blog candy drawing from last week’s blog hop. I intended to do that tonight, but I learned about the death of a dear friend today and didn’t feel up to writing a blog post. I appreciate your patience this week as I deal with these things in life.

I will try to post the weekly updates, blog candy winner, and a new project in the next day or two. Thanks for your continual support and loyal following. I just love my readers and customers! You are the best!

Happy Stamping!

Artist Trading Cards Collaborative Project – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s project is a special collaborative project created by several members of an online stamping group that I participate in.  Each of us designed an Artist Trading Card (ATC), which measures 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″, and duplicated it 10 times.  The cards were mailed all around the country and the project you see here is the result.

ATC Grid Project (17 of 17)

This project is similar to another grid project I participated in a few months ago.  If you missed that one, you can view it here.  Here are some close-ups of each individual card.  Because I wanted to create a 3 x 4 grid to fit inside a 12″ x 12″ shadowbox, I ended up creating a few extra ATCs of my own.

By the Tide One-to-One Swap Card from Sylvia Wilson – Stampin’ Up!

I have another great project for you created by one of my readers for the one-to-one swap. Today’s project is a card created by Sylvia Wilson from Oregon.  Sylvia’s project features the By the Tide stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

One-to-One Swap (5 of 4)

Sylvia finished off the inside of her card and the matching envelope with the fan coral image too.  My readers will know that I love attention to detail, and the inside of the card is an important part of a finished project.  Nice work Sylvia!

2014 Annual Catalog Blog Hop and Weekly Updates from Stampin’ Up! – July 22, 2014

Blog Hop Banner

I have a special post for you today… It’s the Happy Stampers Catalog Blog Hop!  This may be your first stop on the blog hop, or you may have linked to me from Denise Melia’s website.  Either way, I hope you enjoy the projects I have in store for you today.  Yes, that’s right, projects, plural.  I have a trio of coordinated projects for you today featuring the Bloom with Hope hostess stamp set and Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers from Stampin’ Up!

Bloom With Hope Shadowbox (1 of 13)

My first project for you today is a shadow box art piece.  I just loved the largest flower image from Bloom with Hope so much that I decided to recreate it in three dimensions using crepe paper.

Bloom With Hope Shadowbox (12 of 13)The background is stamped with Memento Ink and the Bloom with Hope stamp set.  I stamped the floral pattern around the edges, then masked with a post it note to stamp the leaves.  Next, I layered panels of Basic Black card stock and Typeset DSP, and embellished with some banners in the corner.  I am really pleased with how this project turned out.

Bloom with Hope Typeset (5 of 12)

In fact, I loved the results of the shadow box so much that I decided to create a card version of the project.  I used my Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in one of the flowers from Bloom with Hope in place of the crepe paper flowers.  I used the Melon Mambo set in combination with the blush marker from the Skin tones set to create the lighter shades of pink for the flower.  I also used the Ivory skin tone marker with the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities in the center of the flower.

Bloom with Hope Typeset (6 of 12)

To finish off the inside of the card, I mirrored the vanilla and black floral motif on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.

Bloom with Hope Typeset (9 of 12)

Of course, a blog hop wouldn’t be complete without some blog candy!  So, I decided to create a notepad for you using the same design elements as my shadow box and card.  If you would like the chance to win this darling gift, please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my blog hop projects today.  I will announce the winner in my post next Tuesday, July 29th.

Bloom with Hope Typeset (10 of 12)

For this notepad I used the same basic measurement techniques that I have shown you before (click here to read more about how to make your own notepads), but I made a few modifications.  This time, I cut the cover  a little shorter, and I added a Basic Black panel that covered the entire back of the notepad and wrapped around the front from the bottom.  I added an antique brad for decoration and closed the pad with magnetic cards coated with adhesive that I trimmed to fit my project (the magnets were the kind intended for business cards).

Bloom with Hope Typeset (12 of 12)

I hope you have enjoyed my projects today and that you will pin them to Pinterest.  You will find a “pin it” button at the bottom of this post below the supply list.  Also, please subscribe to my blog via email by clicking on the “follow” button if you are a fan of my work, and don’t forget to leave me a comment for your chance to win that great notepad!

World of Dreams Notepad – Stampin’ Up!

Hello Stampers!  Today’s project is a notepad featuring the World of Dreams stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  As soon as I saw this stamp set in the catalog I knew it was one I just had to have!  I love a stamp set with beautiful silhouetted images!

World of Dreams Notepad (3 of 4)

For instructions about how to create your own beautiful notepads with the perfect measurements, please see my previous post here.

World of Dreams Notepad (1 of 4)

I love these notepads.  They are perfect for brightening up the corner of your desk and they make awesome gifts!  In this case, I made a whole set of them and gave them as favors at my sister’s bridal shower.  I thought that the sentiment was lovely for commemorating the beginning of my sister’s new life with her husband.  You can also add magnets to the back of these pads and keep them on the refrigerator.  You can purchase business card magnets with adhesive on them from most office supply stores.  They are perfect because they are strong enough to hold the pad in place on the fridge.

World of Dreams Notepad (4 of 4)

I love Pinterest, don’t you?  Please pin this project if you love it as much as I do.  You will find a “pin it” button at the bottom of this post below the supply list and card stock cuts.  Also, please subscribe to my blog via email by clicking on the “follow” button if you are a fan of my work.
