Botanical Gardens Galore for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up!

NEW Blog Hop Header
As you may be able to tell from my last few posts, I am crazy about the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies and the Botanical Gardens DSP from Stampin’ Up!  My card share today features these gorgeous flowers once again, but this time with a different color palette.  If you would like to see one of my other creations with this set, click here.

Here’s the sketch for today’s challenge.

03032016 Sketch Challenge

I just love how this card came together.  The sketch provided the perfect empty space to fill with a beautiful array of flowers.  I also love how the wink of stella provides a little extra sparkle on the Cajun Craze flowers. It is really pretty in person, but I just couldn’t quite capture it on film.

Feb18-Mar3 Blog Hop-11

Card Recipe and Tips:

Card Base: Hello Honey 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″

Layers: Basic Black 4″ x 5-1/4″, Botanical Gardens DSP 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″

Art Piece: Botanical Gardens DSP (Hello Honey Mat), Whisper White – Labels Collection Framelits (4th from the center)

  • To create a thinner mat, I used a pencil to trace the outside edge of the labels collection framelit (4th from the center).  Then I cut it out with scissors.
  • I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to draw faux stitching along the outside edge of my white die cut panel.
  • I sponged all my flowers with Cajun Craze to give them a little extra interest.
  • I added Gold Wink of Stella to the Cajun Craze Flowers to give them a little sparkle.
  • Don’t forget to finish the inside of your card for an extra special touch.

Botanical Blooms and Birthday Bouquet Revisited for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up!

NEW Blog Hop Header
My card share for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop today is another card that features the Botanical Blooms stamp set and matching framelits from Stampin’ Up! paired with the Birthday Bouquet DSP.  Last week I shared this card that featured the same combination of products, but as you can see the cards are quite different.  They do go together very well though!  Could be the beginnings of a boxed set…

Feb18-Mar3 Blog Hop-5

Here is the color combination for today’s challenge.

02252016 color challenge

The color challenge was inspired by the Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I just can’t get enough of the floral images in this paper pack.  They are simply gorgeous!  I added a little Wink of Stella to the flowers to add a bit of shine.  I must say, I’m not a huge fan of glitter, but I am in love with that little brush!  It gives just a bit of sparkle without being over the top.

Feb18-Mar3 Blog Hop-6

Card Recipe and Tips:

Card Base: Watermelon Wonder card stock – 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″

Layers: Whisper White – 4″ x 5-1/4″ (two – front and inside), Birthday Bouquet DSP – 3″ x 3-7/8″, Blushing Bride card stock – 3″ x 3-7/8″,

Flowers: Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow

  • I brushed clear Wink of Stella on the flowers on the DSP to give them a little shimmer.
  • I also used Wink of Stella on the die cut flowers and on the flower inside the card.
  • I used a sponge to add some Watermelon Wonder and Pool Party ink to the edges of my flower petals.  The effect is subtle, but it makes a big difference.
  • Use a bone folder to curl up the edges of your petals to give them more interest. I also adhered the larger flower with a Stampin’ Dimensional to give the card depth.
  • I couldn’t resist using one of the Botanical Garden Jewels Embellishments for the center of my larger flower.  Isn’t it just gorgeous!
  • I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the fern frond die cut. It is the perfect choice for really intricate dies.
  • Don’t forget to finish the inside of your card for an extra special touch. For this card, I wanted to try out “borderless coloring.” I colored the flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set with blushing bride, early espresso, and mossy meadow markers and stamped it on the white card stock.  Then I used a blender pen and my ink pads to color in the flower.  By stamping my image in the colors I used to color it in, I got a flower without a black outline.  I think that this method helps the flower on the inside to better match the flowers on the DSP.

Botanical Blooms and Birthday Bouquet for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up!

NEW Blog Hop Header
My card share for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop today features the Botanical Blooms stamp set and matching framelits from Stampin’ Up!  I cannot tell you how much I love these framelits.  It is so easy to create such unique flowers with this set.  I especially love the larger flower with the cutouts on the petals!  And speaking of flowers, how about that gorgeous Birthday Bouquet DSP!

Here’s the sketch for today’s challenge.

I used this same sketch for another card a few weeks ago.  I always think it is so interesting to see just how many different creations you can come up with from one inspiration point.  If you missed my previous post, you can view it here.

Feb18-Mar3 Blog Hop-3

Card Recipe and Tips:

Card Base: Watermelon Wonder card stock – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″

Layers: Birthday Bouquet DSP (stripes) – 2-3/4″ x 5-1/2″, Blushing Bride card stock – 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″, Birthday Bouquet DSP (floral) – 3″ x 3-1/2″

Flowers: Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow

  • I brushed clear Wink of Stella on the blue flowers on the DSP to give them a little shimmer, although it is hard to see in the photos.
  • I used a sponge to add some Watermelon Wonder ink to the edges of my flower petals.
I used a strip of the floral DSP along one side.  (Here’s a little secret… I was planning to run the strip along the bottom of the card, but I got a fingerprint smudge on the left side, which changed my plans.  In crafting there are no mistakes, only happy accidents which we can cover with embellishments!)

Variations on Wild about Flowers for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up!

NEW Blog Hop Header
My card share for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop today shows two different variations of the card I shared with you last week featuring the Wild about Flowers stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  If you missed that post, you can see it here.  I thought it would be fun to show you how you can change the look of a card by simply using a different piece of designer series paper.

2016-jan-feb-blog hop-9

This week’s color challenge is Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, and Old Olive.

02112016 color challenge

I used the Farmers Market DSP for each of my cards, but by changing the stamping a little, and switching up the colors of the layered panel, you get several pretty looks.

2016-jan-feb-blog hop-12

2016-jan-feb-blog hop-15

Card Recipe and Tips:

Card Base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″

Layers: Very Vanilla 4″ x 5-1/4″ (two, front of card and inside panel), Farmers Market DSP 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″, Blackberry Bliss/Old Olive 2-5/8″ x 4-1/4″, Hello Honey/Blackberry Bliss 2-3/8″ x 4″

Art Piece: Very Vanilla 2-1/4″ x 3-7/8″

  • Stamp the images on Very Vanilla card stock.  Vary the height of the flowers to add visual interest.
  • Stamp just a few flowers, or layer them to look like a field of wild flowers.
  • Layer the panels for the art piece and then tie with ribbon.  I run adhesive across the back of the panel to help hold the ribbon in place.  Putting a mini-glue dot behind where you want the knot to be helps to tie neatly.
  • I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise up the art piece and give the card more depth.
  • Don’t forget to finish the inside of your card for an extra special touch.

Happy Stampers Occasions Catalog & Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop – Stampin’ Up!

Well, what started out as a holiday vacation, turned into a longer than anticipated sabbatical from blogging… But, I’m back today, just in time for the Happy Stampers blog hop!  Today, we have created projects featuring products from the Stampin’ Up! … Continue reading

Elegant Black and White Mixed Bunch Boxed Card Set – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s project is another boxed set of cards featuring the Mixed Bunch stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  (As you can tell, I’m on a mission to get all of my son’s teacher gifts knocked out!) I was inspired to create these cards by a video I saw created by Brandy Cox (www.brandyscards.com).  I changed the stamp sets and punches to suit what I had in my collection, but the basic design is the same.  I love the simple elegance of the black and white color scheme.

Mixed Bunch B&W (1 of 5)

This card is an easy one to do “assembly line” style to create multiple cards with the same design, which makes it ideal for creating a boxed set.  The base of the card is a black panel with a smaller white card glued on top.  This allows for the look of a colored card base, but allows you to cut down on supplies.  The Whisper White card stock is very economical for making a large number of cards, which is a nice benefit of this design.

Mixed Bunch B&W (5 of 5)

I created a belly band for my box and stamped the envelopes so that they would coordinate beautifully with the cards.  For directions on creating the box, click here.

Mixed Bunch B&W (2 of 5)

I used the 2-1/2″ circle punch to create a hole in the front of the card, and then glued this beautiful black and white flower to the inside of the card.  The flower features the following elements:

  • Blossom Punch – Basic Black card stock
  • 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch – Whisper White stamped with flower from Mixed Bunch (these don’t line up, but I just wanted the design from the flower stamp, so it didn’t matter).
  • Pansy Punch – Basic Black card stock
  • 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch – Whisper White stamped with medalion from A Round Array stamp set.
  • Large Basic Pearl (or rhinestone)

Mixed Bunch B&W (3 of 5)

Another neat element of this card is the “ribbon” along the left edge.  I created this by stamping scrap strips of whisper white card stock using the flower from Mixed Bunch.  I think it adds an element of elegance and is a great way to use up all those little scraps you have lying around.

Mixed Bunch B&W (4 of 5)

I think this set is just beautiful.  I’m a sucker for a black and white color scheme, and I like how these cards can be used for a variety of occasions.  If you like this project, I hope you will pin it to Pinterest for me. You will find a “pin it” button at the end of this post below the supply list.

Also, Please consider selecting me as your demonstrator for your stamping needs.  I would love the opportunity to earn your business.  If you need any supplies you can shop now in my online store!  Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions or if you would like a catalog.  I’m here to help!

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Card Set – Stampin’ Up!

I love Pinterest for all the creative inspiration it provides.  Today’s card was one that I CASED from Pinterest, and features the Beautiful Bunch stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  To see the original card created by Beth Rush that inspired this design, click here.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (5 of 10)

I am starting to think ahead to the holidays (which will be here before we know it), and I’ve decided to make boxed sets of cards for my son’s teachers.  Although I loved the original design of this card on Pinterest, I made a few changes.  I didn’t want to hand color all of the flowers, so I stamped them on Rich Razzleberry card stock with Blackberry Bliss ink.  I also decided to make the center yellow.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (7 of 10)

I wanted the sentiment to be one that could be used for any occasion, so I chose “Just for You” from the Work of Art stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  The background was created using the Dotty Angles photopolymer stamp set.  At first, I wasn’t sure I would get much use out of that stamp set because it only contains 2 border stamps, but I am so glad I ordered it.  It turns out that those dots are just too cute and can be used to add something special to so many cards.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (9 of 10)

Finally, I made a card box with a coordinating belly band to tie everything together.  For the box, I began with a 9″ x 9″ piece of Kraft card stock.  Using the Envelope Punch Board, I punched and scored along one edge at the 3-1/2″ and 4-1/2″ score lines.  Then I turned the card 180 degrees and followed the same procedure.  For the remaining sides, I lined up my scored lines with the score guide and scored accordingly.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (1 of 10)

The Belly band was created with an 11″ x 1-3/4″ strip of Mossy Meadow card stock, layered with a 1-1/2″ x 11″ strip of Whisper White.  I stamped the white piece, glued it to the green and then scored at 2-3/4″, 3-5/8″, 8″, and 8-7/8″.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (2 of 10)

Of course, a card set wouldn’t be complete without matching envelopes, so I did a little stamping on those too!

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (4 of 10)

This card box will hold 4 cards and 4 matching envelopes, even with quite a bit of embellishment on the cards.

Beautiful Bunch Boxed Set (3 of 10)

I am really pleased with how this set turned out.  I know I would love to receive it as a gift, and I hope my son’s teacher agrees.  I may just have to make another set for myself!  If you like this project, I hope you will pin it to Pinterest for me. You will find a “pin it” button at the end of this post below the supply list.

Please consider selecting me as your demonstrator for your stamping needs.  I would love the opportunity to earn your business.  If you need any supplies you can shop now in my online store!  Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions or if you would like a catalog.  I’m here to help!

Yippy-Skippy & Flower Patch Happy Card – Stampin’ Up!

As soon as I saw the annual catalog, I fell in love with the Flower Patch photopolymer stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  Now, I must admit, the picture of the stamp set in the catalog doesn’t do it justice, but the photos of the projects created with the stamp set had me hooked!  It is such a versatile set, and I just love how this card turned out today.

Another stamp set that I really like is the Yippee-Skippee! sentiment stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  I like the whimsical appeal of both the words and the font choices in this set.  “You can never have too much happy!” just seemed like the perfect thought to go with these lovely flowers!  I also love that the Flower Patch stamp has coordinating framelits to go with it.  What’s not to love!

And of course, I needed to finish off the inside of my card with some flowers to match the front….  Aren’t they lovely?  The clear photopolymer stamps made stamping this design a breeze!

As the weather turns chilly, I like the warm thoughts of spring that this card evokes.  I hope that you like it too and will consider pinning this project to Pinterest.  You will find a “pin it” button at the end of this post below the supply list.

I hope you will consider selecting me as your demonstrator for your stamping needs.  If you need any supplies you can shop now in my online store!  Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions or if you would like a catalog.  I’m here to help!

Happy Stamping!
