Blooming with Kindness Quick Thank You Card – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card, featuring the Blooming with Kindness stamp set from Stampin’ Up! (wood mount and clear mount) is a super quick, clean and simple card for those occasions when you just don’t have much time. That has definitely been the case around here this week as I prepared for Carter’s birthday party and also tried to make progress on the renovation of my home studio!

I began my card with a Whisper White card base. First, I inked up the leaf image from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Pear Pizzazz ink. I stamped off on a scrap of paper, then I stamped the leaf image in the bottom right corner of the card. I repeated that process again on the right side near the top of the card. Then I inked up the flower from Blooming with Kindness in Blushing Bride ink. I used a sponge dauber to add some Strawberry Slush ink to the center of the flower fading out toward the edges. Then I stamped the image between the two sets of leaves on the front of the card.

Next, I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to place the “Thank You” greeting from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set near the flower image. I inked up the sentiment using Strawberry Slush ink, and stamped off on a scrap of paper before stamping the greeting on the front of the card.

I finished off the inside of my card by stamping the leaf image from Summer Silhouettes twice. I inked up my stamp in Pear Pizzazz and stamped in on the inside of the card. Next, I inked up the stamp a second time to avoid any harsh lines where the stamp had gone off the page. I stamped off on a scrap of paper and then stamped on the inside of the card again to give my image some added depth.

I was able to make a whole stack of these cards in about 15 minutes. They are lovely, but also very fast and convenient. Sweet Sorbet Stamp-a-Stack – Stampin’ Up!

On Sunday, I shared an elegant Stamp-a-Stack featuring the Serene Silhouettes stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Today’s project is another set of cards; this one featuring the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration. Serene Silhouettes Stamp-a-Stack – Stampin’ Up!

On Friday, I shared an elegant card featuring the Serene Silhouettes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up! I liked the card so much, that I decided to create a stamp-a-stack collection around it. All of the cards in this set were inspired by the Splitcoast Stampers CAS266 card challenge, which was to create a clean and simple card using three of the following colors:

Serene Silhouettes Birthday Wishes Card – Stampin’ Up!

I have an elegant card for you today that features the Serene Silhouettes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up! Recently I have seen several projects that used a resist technique with beautiful results, so I decided to try it out for myself. I think the white embossing of the flower image is just lovely! Today’s project is inspired by three different challenges: Retro Sketches #108, Splitcoast Stampers CAS266, and The Card Concept #7.

I began my card with a Whisper White card base. Then I cut panels of Marina Mist and Soft Sky. I used my Big Shot to emboss the Soft Sky panels with the Beautifully Baroque and Fancy Fan embossing folders. I layered the Soft Sky panels on the Marina Mist ones and adhered them to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Next, it was time to turn my attention to my focal piece for the card. I began by rubbing a panel of Whisper White card stock with my Embossing Buddy to ensure that I got a clean image without any extra embossing powder stuck on the card. Then I inked up my stamp with Versamark Ink and coated the image with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used my Heat Emboss Tool to set the image.

At this stage of the game, things were looking rather plain, but that was all about to change. The next steps are where the magic happens. I used a sponge dauber to add ink to the background of my image. I began by adding Soft Sky ink to the entire background using a circular motion. Then I started from the bottom of the panel and added Marina Mist ink, blending it with the Soft Sky as I went. I followed the same procedure with my Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad next. I kept layering and blending until I achieved the desired ombre effect.

I finished my art piece by adding a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (wood mount and clear mount). I stamped the image in Marina Mist ink on Soft Sky card stock and punched it out using the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I embellished the butterfly with a Basic Pearl Accent and attached it to the panel using a Mini Glue Dot. Next, I punched the bottom of the panel using my Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For my greeting , I chose the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment from the Four You stamp set (wood mount and clear mount). I stamped it in Night of Navy ink on a scrap of Smoky Slate card stock. Then I used my Hexagon Punch to create the ends of my banner. Next, I used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel with Marina Mist ink. I mounted my sentiment onto the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, I added three pearls to the top right corner of the card.

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I stamped the floral image from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set in the corner using my Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad.

As a final detail, I stamped the images from the card on an envelope too. I love the crisp look of the blue tones on the white card. It just looks clean and elegant. Blooming with Kindness Birthday Wishes Card – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the Blooming with Kindness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) and Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! The design was inspired by Sandi MacIver (Stamping with Sandi) who introduced me to the idea of stamping on patterned paper. I also owe Sandi a huge shout out and show of appreciation for mentioning me on her blog on Thursday. Many of you reading this today found me via Sandi’s post, and I am very grateful for the introduction! I am so thrilled to have you with me today!

Now, onto today’s project… I just love this stamp set. From the moment I saw that gorgeous flower, I knew I had to have it. I get tons of compliments on every card I make with this one. I began my card by selecting a piece of Watercolor Wonder DSP with cute yellow and orange polkadots. The design of this paper was simple enough that I felt it would make a beautiful background for my stamped images. I chose to stamp my images in Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango ink to coordinate with the design of the Watercolor Wonder DSP. That is one great thing about Stampin’ Up designer series papers, they always list which colors were used in the design right on the label. It takes all the guesswork out of creating your color scheme.

First, I stamped the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set in Crushed Curry on the right side of my panel, making sure it went off the page a bit. Then I cleaned my stamp and inked it up with Tangerine Tango. I stamped it once on a scrap of paper, before stamping it in the bottom left corner of my DSP panel. I wanted to add extra depth to my design by altering the intensity of the colors. For my third bloom, which would be the main focal point of the card, I knew it needed to have some added dimension. I decided to double stamp it to create a bit of a shadow effect. First, I inked up my stamp with Crushed Curry and stamped off on a scratch paper before stamping a lighter image on the DSP panel. Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image again using Tangerine Tango ink. For the second stamp, I offset the image just slightly to create the illusion of depth.

For my greeting , I chose the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment from the Simply Sketched stamp set, available as one of the great hostess rewards from Stampin’ Up!. I stamped it in Cajun Craze ink on my stamped panel using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. Then, I used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel in the same color. I mounted my art piece on a panel of Tangerine Tango using SNAIL adhesive, then adhered that to a panel of beautiful floral designer series paper from the Watercolor Wonder set. Finally, I added all of my layered panels to a Tangerine Tango card base.

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I stamped the floral image from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set along the bottom of a panel of Whisper White card stock using the same ink colors as I did on the front of the card. Then I inked around the edges of the panel using Tangerine Tango ink and a sponge dauber. I layered this panel onto a panel of the floral Watercolor Wonder DSP and adhered it to the card base.

I love the bright cheery colors of this card, and the elegance of the floral stamp. I think it is stunning (if I do say so myself)! LOL. I will definitely keep my eye out for other designer series paper designs that I think would make a nice background image.

From My Heart Friendship Card – Stampin’ Up!

Before I get to today’s card, I have to say “thank you” to my Stampin’ Up! upline, Amy Koenders (Stamp with Amy K). Amy introduced many of you to my blog Friday, and I am so grateful for her support. Amy, you are fabulous and your cards are too!

Now, onto today’s card, which was created using the From my Heart stamp set from Stampin’ Up! (wood mount and clear mount). I just love the teapot image in this set. It is so cute and different from my normal floral/nature themed cards. It seemed the perfect choice to go with SCS color challenge 470 this week.

Friday was such an exciting blogging day for me. I loved seeing so much blog traffic and so many new subscribers! You have no idea how excited I get seeing the reach of my posts. That’s where the nerdy math teacher in me comes through! LOL. Anyway, if you like my post today, I would appreciate hearing from you. Today’s card was inspired by The Mojo Monday 337 sketch challenge & Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge #470:

I began my card with a Baked Brown Sugar card base. Then I added panels of Night of Navy (my substitution for the color challenge), Cherry Cobbler DSP, Whisper White, and Night of Navy DSP (Regals DSP Stack) using SNAIL adhesive.

Next, I colored my friendship stamp from the From my Heart stamp set using my Stampin’ Write Markers in Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, & Baked Brown Sugar (In Color Markers, Subtles Collection Markers, and Regals Collection Markers). I stamped the image on Whisper White and used my Baked Brown Sugar ink pad and a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel. Then I colored the teapot and tray again and stamped them on a scrap of Whisper White, I cut that out using paper snips and added it to my greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals for some added depth. I followed the same procedure, stamping the friendship banner in Night of Navy on Baked Brown Sugar card stock. The finished greeting was layered onto a square of Cherry Cobbler card stock, which I inked with my Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad.

Finally, I stamped two flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) using Night of Navy ink. I colored my flowers using my Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin’ Pad and my Blender Pens. I punched out the flowers using the Petite Petals Punch and added Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents to the center. Then I added them to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Remember, the Petite Petals stamp set and punch are available as a bundle for a 15% discount, wood mount and clear mount.)

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I layered strips of Cherry Cobbler DSP and Night of Navy card stock and added them to the bottom of the card.

This card is not my normal kind of color scheme, but I really like the finished product. That’s the great thing about challenges, they put you outside your comfort zone. Simply Sketched, You Make Me Happy! – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the Simply Sketched (wood mount and clear mount), Papillon Potpouri (wood mount and clear mount) and Perfect Pennants (wood mount and clear mount) stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! The Simply Sketched stamp set is one of the lovely hostess items you can earn through the Stampin’ Rewards program. I am in love with the flower in this set! This is the second card I’ve created with it this week. I think you can see by the different colors I used how versatile that little flower can be. (There’s a cute little bird in that set too. I haven’t used that one yet, but I expect you will be seeing it here soon.)

Today’s card was inspired by:

I began my card with a Whisper White card base. Then I added a panel of Tempting Turquoise card stock using SNAIL adhesive. Next, I dry embossed a panel of Island Indigo card stock using the Lacy Brocade embossing folder and added that to the front of my card. For my focal point, I layered panels of Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight as the base for my three dimensional elements.

Next, I used Staz-on Black ink and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the flower and leaf elements from the Simply Sketched stamp set onto a square of watercolor paper. I also stamped an additional flower and leaf on another scrap of watercolor paper to add some dimension later. I colored my stamped images using the Brights Collection Stampin’ Write Markers (Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, & Daffodil Delight) and a Blender Pen to give it a watercolor effect. I cut out the extra flower and leaves using paper snips. Then, I attached the leaves to the foreground of my square with mini glue dots and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add my flower on top of the one on the square of watercolor paper for some extra depth. Then I stamped the butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set onto some Whisper White card stock using Staz-on Black and colored it with my markers. Then I cut it out using the Bitty Butterflies Punch. I added a Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accent to the butterfly and added it to my square using Stampin Dimensionals. I adhered my watercolored panel to a square of Whisper White and added the finished piece to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I stamped the “You Make Me Happy” greeting from the Perfect Pennants stamp set on Whisper White card stock using my Tempting Turquoise Classic Stampin’ Pad. I cut that out using the Banners Framelits Dies (2nd from the center). I also cut a banners in Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo (3rd from the center). (Remember, the Perfect Pennants stamp set and the Banners Framelits can be purchased as a bundle for 15% off, wood mount and clear mount.) I layered my greeting onto the Island Indigo banner and trimmed it down. Then I repeated the process with the Tempting Turquoise banner. Finally, I finished my design off with a button from the Designer Subtles Collection and some bakers twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (Sale-a-bration item).

For my finishing touch, I stamped the leaves from Simply Sketched and the butterfly from Papillon Potpouri on the inside of my card and colored them to match the front of the card.

I love how my watercolored square turned out. The colors just pop off the page, and the dimension added by the 3-D elements make it all really jump out at you. Simply Sketched Just for You! – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the Simply Sketched stamp set from Stampin’ Up! (wood mount and clear mount). This beautiful stamp set is one of our lovely hostess items available through the Stampin’ Rewards program. I just love the way it turned out with the watercoloring! I also love that this card was the perfect combination for four different challenges this week! I find it invigorating to try to combine more than one challenge into one card, but four is a new record for me! So, lots of props to the design teams who provided me with the necessary inspiration for today’s card: Dynamic Duos #93, Mojo Monday sketch #336, Splitcoast Stampers CAS #263, and SUO Challenges #92. I have to say, I really enjoy participating in challenges. I find that it makes me think creatively to figure out how I can meet the constraints presented by the design teams. I highly recommend it to get those creative juices flowing!

I began my card with a Whisper White card base. Then I added a panel of Sahara Sand paper from the Sweet Sorbet DSP pack (Sale-a-bration item) using SNAIL adhesive. Next, I dry embossed a panel of Blushing Bride card stock using the decorative dots embossing folder (Sale-a-bration item). I layered that panel onto a panel of Crumb Cake card stock and added them to the front of my card. I used the 4th largest Circles Collection Framelits Die (counting from the outside in toward the center) to cut a circle of Crumb Cake card stock to mat my floral focal point. I used the next smallest circle die to trace a circle in pencil on Whisper White card stock, then I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to place the flower and leaf stamps where I wanted them in the circle using Staz-on Black Ink. I stamped another flower and leaf on a scrap of Whisper White to cut out for my three dimensional element.

For my watercoloring, I pressed my Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pads onto a ceramic plate and used some water and a paintbrush to color in my stamped images. Then I cut out my circle using paper snips because I wanted to have the leaves overlap the circumference of the circle. I also cut out the extra leaf and flower stamps. I attached the leaves with mini glue dots, and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add my flower to the front of the card for some extra depth.

Finally, I finished my card front with some pearls and the “Just for You” sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) in Staz-on Black. I punched the greeting out using the word window punch and attached it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Because I wanted my sentiment to be small, I lined up the edge of the punch near the beginning of my greeting. Then I attached it to a post-it note to serve as a handle and punched it again from the other side. I just love how versatile Stampin’ Up! punches are. With a little ingenuity you can really do so many different things with them.

Of course, I couldn’t leave the inside of my card naked, so I stamped the images from the front on the inside and quickly colored them using the same watercoloring technique as before. I think it makes such a difference when you add a little detail the the inside of the card. It just seems to tie everything together and take your design to the next level.

I am very pleased with how this card turned out. It was actually my first attempt at watercoloring on a card, and I think it turned out fabulously! I hope that you agree. Flip Card Using Framelits and Blooming with Kindness – Stampin’ Up!

As you can tell, I am in love with the Blooming with Kindness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up! This is my second card in a week that features that beautiful flower! I just think it is so pretty and elegant. In addition to the lovely flower, this card also uses the Circles Collection Framelits Dies to create great flip card effect. This was a brand new technique that I learned from fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Brandy Cox. If you love the flip card effect, I have included a link to Brandy’s tutorial at the bottom of this post after the supply list.

This card is my submission for Splitcoast Stampers Clean and Simple Challenge #262: Neutrals. Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of this creation. I would love to hear from you. I love the flip card design, but I wanted to be able to write on the inside of my card without having it visible when the card was closed. Therefore, I extended the length of my card base to make a tri-fold style flip card. I began with a Smoky Slate card base (5-1/2″ x 11″) which I scored at 2-1/8″, 4-1/4″, and 8-1/2″. I followed the instructions in Brandy’s video tutorial to cut half of a circle on the front of my card using the the third largest Circle Framelits Die (counting from the outside in toward the middle). Then I dry embossed the front of my card using the Modern Mosaic textured impressions embossing folder and my Big Shot. Next, I folded back the front flap, created with my framelits, and used a sponge dauber to apply ink from my Smoky Slate Classic Stampin’ Pad to the left side of my card. I wanted to pick up the detail of the embossing and provide some contrast on the front of my card. I used a scrap piece of card stock to cover the parts of my card that I did not want affected.

For the focal point of my card, I stamped the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Smoky Slate ink. I wanted to stamp the flower twice, overlapping the two images to provide depth, but I have found that this works best when the first image is very light. Therefore, I inked up my stamp and stamped it onto a scrap piece of card stock before stamping it on my Very Vanilla panel. Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image a second time using my Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad. I offset the two images just slightly. This gives the flower the illusion of depth and really makes it pop!

Once my flower was complete, I used the fourth largest Circles Collection Framelits Die (counting from the outside in toward the middle) to cut out my flower. Then, I cut a circle of Basic Gray card stock using the third largest circle die. I layered the two circles together and adhered them to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive. For my senitment I chose the “Happy Birthday” greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount). I stamped it in Basic Gray ink and punched it out using the Word Window Punch. I needed my sentiment to be a little narrower than the word window punch, so I punched it so that the edge of the words were near the end of the punch. Then I attached a post-it-note to the punched sentiment and punched it a second time, trimming off the extra length that I did not need. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere my sentiment to the front of the card, and added three Basic Pearl Jewel Accents for a finishing touch.

This card was really coming together nicely, but I didn’t like the fact that it didn’t lie flat, so I added some gray grosgrain ribbon to tie it closed… Now it was perfect! Finally, I finished the inside of my card by stamping one of the border stamps from the Mosaic Madness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) along the bottom edge of a Very Vanilla card stock panel in Basic Gray ink.

I have to say that I am really pleased with how this card turned out! When I watched Brandy’s video tutorial, I could just picture how elegant the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set would look on the front of a flip card, and the end result did not disappoint! Oh, Secret Garden, You Make me Smile! – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the Secret Garden stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up! The inspiration for this card came from the Mojo Monday sketch challenge #335 and the Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge #468. (The challenge calls for Raspberry Ripple, but I didn’t have that so I substituted Rose Red.) At first I was a little stuck with my design, but I am really pleased with the end result. I didn’t have any designer series paper in the challenge colors, so I decided to create my own! I randomly stamped a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the Secret Garden stamp set in Rose Red, Island Indigo, and Old Olive. I didn’t want my stamped images to be too bold and overwhelming, so I stamped the Island Indigo and Old Olive stamps on a scrap sheet of paper before stamping them on my card stock. This gave the colors a bit of a softer effect. I wanted to tie in the black from my card base, so I chose a stamp from the Petite Petals stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) and used my Staz On Black ink to add it to my design. I was trying to highlight the colors of the challenge without having too many big blocks of solid color or a pattern that was so bold it became distracting. I think my floral stamped paper did just the trick!

Once my stamping was done, I cut the panels for my card. I placed a panel of Island Indigo side by side with a panel of my stamped design and adhered them to a Basic Black card base using SNAIL Adhesive. Then I cut a panel of Basic Black and embossed it using the Lacy Brocade embossing folder and my Big Shot. I cut two small squares of card stock; one in Island Indigo and and the other from my stamped paper. I used SNAIL to attach the Island Indigo and Black pieces to the card front. Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach my stamped square.

Next, I added a banner cut from Rose Red card stock. I cut a 1/2″ strip of card stock and then used the Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item) to shape the end of the banner. Then I stamped a flower from the Secret Garden stamp set using my Island Indigo Classic Stampin’ Pad. I used the Secret Garden Framelits to cut out my flower and some leaves from Old Olive card stock. I used mini glue dots to adhere the leaves and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add my flower. I chose the “You make me smile” greeting from the A Round Array stamp set (wood mount and clear mount), which I stamped in Rose Red ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out using the 7/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch. The sentiment was also adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, I added some Basic Pearl Jewel Accents to the center of my flower and the bottom left corner of my card for a finishing touch.

Of course, you may have noticed that I always like to finish the inside of my card with a coordinating accent. I used the Secret Garden and Petite Petals stamp sets to mirror the design from the front of my card on a panel of Very Vanilla and adhered it to the inside of the card using SNAIL.
