Serene Silhouettes Stamp-a-Stack – Stampin’ Up!

On Friday, I shared an elegant card featuring the Serene Silhouettes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up!  I liked the card so much, that I decided to create a stamp-a-stack collection around it.  If you live in the Atlanta area and would be interested in making this gorgeous card set , please contact me to sign up for my Stamp-a-Stack class on Saturday, May 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  We will create this set and another one (I’ll post about that one soon).  The cost of the class is $15 and includes all consumable materials, use of my stamping supplies, and I will do all the prep work… you can’t beat that!  I would love to connect with some of you face to face for an opportunity to truly create together!

If you like this project as much as I do, I would love to hear from you.  Please leave me a comment and I will enter you into my drawing.  During the month of April, I will be doing a drawing each Sunday.  One lucky winner will receive one of the featured products from Sale-a-bration.  So, if you missed out on the free items during the sale, now is your chance to win one!  Also, if you enjoy reading my posts, why not have them delivered to your inbox automatically.  Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.

All of the cards in this set were inspired by the Splitcoast Stampers CAS266 card challenge, which was to create a clean and simple card using three of the following colors:

I maintained the same design elements for all four cards of this set.  For details about the techniques used in this project, please click here.  Below, you will find card recipes for the specific supplies and dimensions for each card.

Serene Silhouettes Birthday Wishes Card – Stampin’ Up!

I have an elegant card for you today that features the Serene Silhouettes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up!  Recently I have seen several projects that used a resist technique with beautiful results, so I decided to try it out for myself.  I think the white embossing of the flower image is just lovely!  If you agree, I would love to hear from you.

Serene Silhouettes (12 of 14)

Today’s project is inspired by three different challenges:  Retro Sketches #108, Splitcoast Stampers CAS266, and The Card Concept #7.

Challenge Images

I began my card with a Whisper White card base.  Then I cut panels of Marina Mist and Soft Sky.  I used my Big Shot to emboss the Soft Sky panels with the Beautifully Baroque and Fancy Fan embossing folders.  I layered the Soft Sky panels on the Marina Mist ones and adhered them to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Serene Silhouettes (3 of 14)

Next, it was time to turn my attention to my focal piece for the card.  I began by rubbing a panel of Whisper White card stock with my Embossing Buddy to ensure that I got a clean image without any extra embossing powder stuck on the card.  Then I inked up my stamp with Versamark Ink and coated the image with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I used my Heat Emboss Tool to set the image.

Serene Silhouettes (1 of 14)

At this stage of the game, things were looking rather plain, but that was all about to change.  The next steps are where the magic happens.  I used a sponge dauber to add ink to the background of my image.  I began by adding Soft Sky ink to the entire background using a circular motion. Then I started from the bottom of the panel and added Marina Mist ink, blending it with the Soft Sky as I went.  I followed the same procedure with my Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad next.  I kept layering and blending until I achieved the desired ombre effect.

Serene Silhouettes (2 of 14)

I finished my art piece by adding a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (wood mount and clear mount).  I stamped the image in Marina Mist ink on Soft Sky card stock and punched it out using the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I embellished the butterfly with a Basic Pearl Accent and attached it to the panel using a Mini Glue Dot.  Next, I punched the bottom of the panel using my Scallop Trim Border Punch and attached it to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Serene Silhouettes (4 of 14)

For my greeting , I chose the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment from the  Four You stamp set (wood mount and clear mount).  I stamped it in Night of Navy ink on a scrap of Smoky Slate card stock.  Then I used my Hexagon Punch to create the ends of my banner.  Next, I used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel with Marina Mist ink.  I mounted my sentiment onto the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finally, I added three pearls to the top right corner of the card.

Serene Silhouettes (9 of 14)

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I stamped the floral image from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set in the corner using my Night of Navy Classic Stampin’ Pad.

Serene Silhouettes (13 of 14)

As a final detail, I stamped the images from the card on an envelope too.  I love the crisp look of the blue tones on the white card.  It just looks clean and elegant.  I would love to hear what you think about this project too.  Don’t forget to leave me a comment, for your chance to win a free stamp set!  Also, if you liked my post today, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project.

Blooming with Kindness Birthday Wishes Card – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the Blooming with Kindness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) and Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!  The design was inspired by Sandi MacIver (Stamping with Sandi) who introduced me to the idea of stamping on patterned paper.  I also owe Sandi a huge shout out and show of appreciation for mentioning me on her blog on Thursday.  Many of you reading this today found me via Sandi’s post, and I am very grateful for the introduction!  I am so thrilled to have you with me today!

Now, onto today’s project… I just love this stamp set.  From the moment I saw that gorgeous flower, I knew I had to have it.  I get tons of compliments on every card I make with this one.  If you like what I’ve created today, I would love it if you would leave me a comment.  Tomorrow is the end of the month, so this is your last chance to get in on my monthly drawing for a a handcrafted card in the mail!  Also, if you enjoy reading my posts, why not have them delivered to your inbox automatically.  Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.  I can’t even tell you how thrilled I am every time I get a new follower!  I just love sharing ideas with you guys and hearing all about the great project ideas you have too.

Blooming with Kindness - watercolor wonder (13 of 13)

I began my card by selecting a piece of Watercolor Wonder DSP with cute yellow and orange polkadots.  The design of this paper was simple enough that I felt it would make a beautiful background for my stamped images.  I chose to stamp my images in Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango ink to coordinate with the design of the Watercolor Wonder DSP.  That is one great thing about Stampin’ Up designer series papers, they always list which colors were used in the design right on the label.  It takes all the guesswork out of creating your color scheme.

Blooming with Kindness - watercolor wonder (2 of 13)

First, I stamped the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set in Crushed Curry on the right side of my panel, making sure it went off the page a bit.  Then I cleaned my stamp and inked it up with Tangerine Tango.  I stamped it once on a scrap of paper, before stamping it in the bottom left corner of my DSP panel.  I wanted to add extra depth to my design by altering the intensity of the colors.  For my third bloom, which would be the main focal point of the card, I knew it needed to have some added dimension.  I decided to double stamp it to create a bit of a shadow effect.  First, I inked up my stamp with Crushed Curry and stamped off on a scratch paper before stamping a lighter image on the DSP panel.  Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image again using Tangerine Tango ink.  For the second stamp, I offset the image just slightly to create the illusion of depth.

Blooming with Kindness - watercolor wonder (6 of 13)

For my greeting , I chose the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment from the  Simply Sketched stamp set, available as one of the great hostess rewards from Stampin’ Up!.  I stamped it in Cajun Craze ink on my stamped panel using my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Then, I used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel in the same color.  I mounted my art piece on a panel of Tangerine Tango using SNAIL adhesive, then adhered that to a panel of beautiful floral designer series paper from the Watercolor Wonder set.  Finally, I added all of my layered panels to a Tangerine Tango card base.

Blooming with Kindness - watercolor wonder (7 of 13)

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I stamped the floral image from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set along the bottom of a panel of Whisper White card stock using the same ink colors as I did on the front of the card.  Then I inked around the edges of the panel using Tangerine Tango ink and a sponge dauber.  I layered this panel onto a panel of the floral Watercolor Wonder DSP and adhered it to the card base.

Blooming with Kindness - watercolor wonder (9 of 13)

I love the bright cheery colors of this card, and the elegance of the floral stamp.  I think it is stunning (if I do say so myself)! LOL.  I will definitely keep my eye out for other designer series paper designs that I think would make a nice background image.

I would love to hear what you think about this project too.  Don’t forget to leave me a comment, for your chance to win a handcrafted card!  Also, if you liked my post today, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  I am new to blogging and I would love your help in boosting my blog following.  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project.

Cupcake Punch (11 of 11)

My son will be three in a couple of weeks.  The year I was pregnant with him, we had 7 other babies born at school.  In addition to that, there are 10 kids who live on our street.  I tell you all this just to demonstrate that we get invited to a lot of birthday parties!  Between the gifts, the cards, and the gift wrap it gets pretty expensive.  Now, you know I’ve got the cards covered, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized I could make some super cute gifts with plain brown craft paper and a couple of minutes with some punches.  I’ve seen tons of really cute stamped packages out there, but I don’t always have time to color a bunch of stamps and make a paper bow, etc.  So, today’s share is my 5 minute solution to kids birthday wrap!

Cupcake Punch (1 of 11)

I started by cutting a 2″ x 3-1/2″ strip of the candles paper from the Birthday Basics designer series paper pack.  Then I cut a circle of Coastal Cabana card stock using my Circles Framelits Dies (I would have used the 1-3/4″ circle punch if I had it… that is going on an order soon!).  I added the circle to my birthday candle tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Next, I quickly punched a cupcake using the Cupcake Builder Punch and three different papers from the Birthday Basics DSP pack.  Those were glued together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and added to the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Cupcake Punch (2 of 11)

Finally, I stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) on Whisper White card stock using my Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad.  I punched it out using the Word Window Punch.  Then I used the Modern Label Punch to create a base for my greeting in Bermuda Bay card stock.  I layered everything together using Stampin’ Dimensionals and threaded some white ribbon through to finish it all off with a cute little bow.

Cupcake Punch (10 of 11)

This gift tag was quick and easy to make.  In fact, I think I might go ahead and make several more to have on hand next time we are invited to a birthday party!  If you liked this project, please don’t forget to leave me a comment so you will be entered into my drawing.  Also, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  I am new to blogging and I would love your help in developing a blog following.  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project.

I have been seeing these cute “card in a box” projects all over Pinterest lately, and I just couldn’t resist doing one for my son Carter’s third birthday!  We are going to have a small party at Build-a-Bear Workshop followed by  a teddy bear picnic.  It just seemed like the perfect opportunity to try a card in a box.  I love, love, love how this one turned out!  The Birthday Basics DSP was the perfect pair for my birthday picnic theme.  Another thing I love about these cards is that you get a huge “WOW” factor right out of the envelope… but they are really easy to make!

If you like my post today, please leave me a comment.  I love hearing from you and sharing ideas.  Plus, as an added benefit,  you will be entered into my monthly drawing for a chance to win a free card.  Also, If you aren’t already a subscriber, please consider following me via email.   Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.

Carter's Birthday Invite (4 of 18)

Now, when I decided I wanted to do a card in a box, I had no idea how to do it, so I did a search to find a video tutorial.  I have to thank Stamp and Scrap with Frenchie for her great video tutorial.  You can find a link to her instructions at the bottom of this post below the supply list.  I modified some of the dimensions for my card, but the basic premise for the box is the same.  The other great thing about these cards is they fold up and fit into a regular A2 invitation style envelope!  I made my own envelope using the envelope punch board so that the colors would coordinate.  I love that tool, it makes creating custom envelopes so easy!

Carter's Birthday Invite (16 of 18)

I chose Bermuda Bay card stock for my card base, and adhered panels of the birthday hat and plaid designer series papers from the Birthday Basics DSP pack to the sides of my box.  I used sticky strip to hold the box together.  I wanted the plaid paper to resemble a table cloth at a picnic.  Then, I printed the invitation details and the words from the teddy bear picnic song onto Whisper White card stock using my computer’s printer.  Then, I cut out my printed panels and used my Real Red ink and a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panels.  I adhered the party details to the back and the song lyrics to the underside of the box flaps using SNAIL adhesive.

Carter's Birthday Invite (15 of 18)

Once the foundation of my box was finished, it was time to create my embellishments.  I wish I had taken pictures of the process along the way, but I didn’t. I will do my best to describe the steps I took, but please feel free to contact me with questions if you have them.  I used the following punches to create the teddy bear, cupcake, balloons, and banners:

Teddy Bear:

  • x1 – extra large oval punch – Soft Suede (body)
  • x1 – 1″ circle punch – Soft Suede (head)
  • x3 – small oval – Soft Suede (arms/feet)
  • x1 – small oval – Baked Brown Sugar (belly)
  • x2 – 1/2″ circle – Soft Suede (ears)
  • x3 – 1/2″ circle – Baked Brown Sugar (mouth/paws)
  • x2 – circle from owl builder punch – Baked Brown Sugar (inside of ears)
  • x6 – circle from cupcake builder punch – Baked Brown Sugar (toes)
  • x2 – circle from cupcake builder punch – Whisper White (eyes)

Once I had punched all my pieces, I cut one of the Soft Suede small ovals “yin yang” style to create the two arms.  Then I used my sponge dauber to ink the edges of EVERYTHING (except the eyes and toes) with Soft Suede ink.  I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to put everything together.  then I colored on the nose and the pupils with a sharpie.  I used my Stampin’ Chalk Marker to add a little gleam to the eyes.

Carter's Birthday Invite (3 of 18)

Balloons – I chose a variety of bright colors for the balloons.  Each one was made from the following list of materials:

  • x2- small oval punch
  • x1 – foot of the owl from the owl builder punch.
  • strip of clear plastic – window sheets
  • twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (Sale-a-bration item)
  • Stampin’ Chalk Marker

To make the balloons I punched two ovals and sandwiched the owl foot, twine, and plastic strip between them to create the balloon.  Then I added a reflection with the Stampin’ Chalk Marker.

Carter's Birthday Invite (1 of 18)

Cupcake:  The cupcake was created with the Cupcake Builder Punch and the Create a Cupcake stamp set (wood mount and clear mount).  I stamped the cupcake wrapper in Pear Pizzazz ink and then punched it out with the cupcake builder punch.  The frosting was punched from Pool Party card stock.  I colored the candles and the cherry using my Stampin’ Write Markers in Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie (Brights Collection and Regals Collection).   Then I cut out the candles with paper snips and added a wick with a black pen.  I punched the cherry out using my cupcake builder punch.  Then, I glued everything together using multipurpose liquid glue.

Once my balloons, cupcake, and teddy bear were finished and ready to be added to the box, I added two strips of bermuda bay along the inside of the box (see the video tutorial for instructions) to support the embellishments.  Then I stuck everything on with mini glue dots, making sure my embellishments weren’t taller than the back of the box.  This ensures that it will all fit nicely into the envelope.

Carter's Birthday Invite (9 of 18)

Banners & Greeting:  I colored my birthday greeting from the Label Love stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) with my Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers. Then I stamped it on Whisper White and punched it out using the Artisan Label Punch (The Label Love stamp set and Artisan Punch are available as a bundle for 15% discount; wood mount and clear mount). I stamped my banners using the Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-a-bration item) and punched them out using the Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item).  Finally, I adhered the greeting and the banners to the background of the box using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Simply Sketched Birthday Wishes Card – Stampin’ Up!

Apparently I can’t tear myself away from the Simply Sketched (wood mount and clear mount), stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  It seems to be my favorite lately.  I love how it looks with watercoloring, and it just lent itself well to last Tuesday’s color challenge from Splitcoast Stampers.  And, I did tell you to expect to see that little bird appear in a card soon!  Well, here it is… just as I predicted. LOL.  Remember, the Simply Sketched stamp set is one of the hostess sets available through Stampin’ Rewards.

If you like what I’ve created today, I would love it if you would leave me a comment.  At the end of the month I will do a drawing and one lucky person who left me a comment will receive a handcrafted card in the mail!

Siimply Sketched Birthday Wishes (1 of 8)

Today’s card was inspired by The Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 306 & Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge #469:

I began my card with a  Whisper White card base.  Then I added panels of Always Artichoke card stock and Pistachio Pudding Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Sorbet pack (Sale-a-bration item) using SNAIL adhesive.

Siimply Sketched Birthday Wishes (7 of 8)

Next, I used Staz-on Black ink and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the bird and leaf elements from the Simply Sketched stamp set onto a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I used a Blender Pen  and my Classic Stampin’ Pads in Rose Red, Marina Mist, and Always Artichoke to color my stamped image with a watercolor effect.  Then, I used a sponge dauber to ink around the edges of the panel with Marina Mist ink.  Finally, I layered my artwork onto a mat of Always Artichoke and adhered it to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Siimply Sketched Birthday Wishes (2 of 8)

For my greeting , I chose the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment from Simply Sketched.  I stamped it in Marina Mist ink on Whisper White card stock, and inked around the edge of the panel using a sponge dauber.  Then I layered that onto a panel of Pistachio Pudding card stock, inking the edges of that panel with Always Artichoke ink.  That combination was attached to a panel of Always Artichoke card stock (also inked with the same color) using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then the entire greeting was added to the front of the card using SNAIL Adhesive.  I added a string of Basic Pearls Jewel Accents below the greeting for a little extra touch of class.

Siimply Sketched Birthday Wishes (6 of 8)

For the finishing touches on the inside of my card I layered strips of Pistachio Pudding DSP and Always Artichoke card stock and added them to the bottom of the card.

I’m really happy with how this card turned out in the end, but it was a journey getting there.  I was a little stumped by the colors of the challenge this time.  At first, I was trying to incorporate all three colors into my paper selection, but the blue just didn’t look like it belonged.  Then, I remembered that cute little bird and inspiration was born!  That is what I love about card challenges.  They make you think differently than you might otherwise think.  I would love to hear what inspires you too.  Don’t forget to leave me a comment, for your chance to win a handcrafted card!  Also, if you liked my post today, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  I am new to blogging and I would love your help in developing a blog following.  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project.

See Ya Later Birthday Card Inspired by Florida Gators – Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features the See Ya Later stamp set from Stampin’ Up! (Sale-a-bration item).  This week’s color scheme was inspired by the Florida Gators.  My boss’ birthday was this week and practically every stamp set I own is floral or something else “girly.”  My self imposed “card challenge” was to create a card that my boss would love, so I pulled my inspiration from his favorite college team.  I just got home from team trivia with some people from work, where we presented him with his card.  His first comment was, “Thanks guys, I love the color scheme you’ve got going on there!”  Exactly what I was going for!  I think this card turned out great, and I love that the color scheme could be adjusted for any sports team.  I will definitely keep that one in mind in the future.

I would love to hear what you think of today’s card and to hear your ideas for masculine cards too.  I can use all the help I can get in that arena.  Also, as an added benefit, on March 31st I will do a drawing and one lucky person who left me a comment will receive a handcrafted card in the mail!  If you enjoy reading my posts, why not have them delivered to your inbox automatically?  Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.  I love seeing my blog audience grow.  It makes me very excited.  (I know, I’m a total craft nerd, but what can I say? LOL.)

See Ya Later Birthday UF (2 of 11)

I began my card with a  Pacific Point card base.  Then I added a panels of Tangerine Tango card stock and Garden Green Designer Series Paper using SNAIL adhesive.

See Ya Later Birthday UF (6 of 11)

Next, I colored the birthday stamp from the See Ya Later stamp set using Stampin’ Write Markers in Tangerine Tango, Garden Green, Pacific Point, and Daffodil Delight (Brights Collection and Regals Collection Markers).  I stamped my image onto Whisper White card stock and cut it out using the Ovals Collection Framelits Die (2nd one counting from the inside out).  I used a sponge dauber and my Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin’ Pad to add some color to the edges of my sentiment, then I used my Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item) to punch a variety of banners in Pacific Point  and Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper (Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack).  I adhered my banners to the back of my birthday greeting using mini glue dots.  Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the whole thing to the front of my card.  I felt the card needed a finishing detail, so I added three brads from the Vintage Trinkets Accents & Elements set to the bottom right corner of the panels.

See Ya Later Birthday UF (7 of 11)

To finish off the inside of my card, I wrapped some orange grosgrain ribbon around a panel of whisper white card stock.  I added three banners at the bottom to mirror the design on the front.

I loved seeing the reaction of my boss when he opened his card.  It was very gratifying to know that my card hit its mark.  If you liked my post today, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  I need your help to get the word out, so that people will come read my blog!  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project… and, don’t forget to leave me a comment for your chance to win a handcrafted card!

Flip Card Using Framelits and Blooming with Kindness – Stampin’ Up!

As you can tell, I am in love with the Blooming with Kindness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) from Stampin’ Up!  This is my second card in a week that features that beautiful flower!  I just think it is so pretty and elegant.  In addition to the lovely flower, this card also uses the Circles Collection Framelits Dies to create great flip card effect.  This was a brand new technique that I learned from fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Brandy Cox.  If you love the flip card effect, I have included a link to Brandy’s tutorial at the bottom of this post after the supply list.

Blooming with Kindness - Gray9

This card is my submission for Splitcoast Stampers Clean and Simple Challenge #262: Neutrals.  Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think of this creation.  I would love to hear from you.  On March 31st, I will do a drawing and one lucky person who left me a comment will receive a beautiful handcrafted card in the mail!  Also, if you enjoy reading my posts, why not have them delivered to your inbox automatically.  Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.

Blooming with Kindness - Gray6

I love the flip card design, but I wanted to be able to write on the inside of my card without having it visible when the card was closed.  Therefore, I extended the length of my card base to make a tri-fold style flip card.  I began with a Smoky Slate card base (5-1/2″ x 11″) which I scored at 2-1/8″, 4-1/4″, and 8-1/2″.  I followed the instructions in Brandy’s video tutorial to cut half of a circle on the front of my card using the the third largest Circle Framelits Die (counting from the outside in toward the middle).  Then I dry embossed the front of my card using the Modern Mosaic textured impressions embossing folder and my Big Shot.  Next, I folded back the front flap, created with my framelits, and used a sponge dauber to apply ink from my Smoky Slate Classic Stampin’ Pad to the left side of my card.  I wanted to pick up the detail of the embossing and provide some contrast on the front of my card.  I used a scrap piece of card stock to cover the parts of my card that I did not want affected.

Blooming with Kindness - Gray4

For the focal point of my card, I stamped the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set onto Very Vanilla card stock using Smoky Slate ink.  I wanted to stamp the flower twice, overlapping the two images to provide depth, but I have found that this works best when the first image is very light.  Therefore, I inked up my stamp and stamped it onto a scrap piece of card stock before stamping it on my Very Vanilla panel.  Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image a second time using my Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad.  I offset the two images just slightly.  This gives the flower the illusion of depth and really makes it pop!

Blooming with Kindness - Gray3

Once my flower was complete, I used the fourth largest Circles Collection Framelits Die (counting from the outside in toward the middle) to cut out my flower.  Then, I cut a circle of Basic Gray card stock using the third largest circle die.  I layered the two circles together and adhered them to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.  For my senitment I chose the “Happy Birthday” greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (wood mount and clear mount).  I stamped it in Basic Gray ink and punched it out using the Word Window Punch. I needed my sentiment to be a little narrower than the word window punch, so I punched it so that the edge of the words were near the end of the punch.  Then I attached a post-it-note to the punched sentiment and punched it a second time, trimming off the extra length that I did not need.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere my sentiment to the front of the card, and added three Basic Pearl Jewel Accents for a finishing touch.

Blooming with Kindness - Gray2

This card was really coming together nicely, but I didn’t like the fact that it didn’t lie flat, so I added some gray grosgrain ribbon to tie it closed… Now it was perfect!  Finally, I finished the inside of my card by stamping one of the border stamps from the Mosaic Madness stamp set (wood mount and clear mount) along the bottom edge of a Very Vanilla card stock panel in Basic Gray ink.

Blooming with Kindness - Gray5

I have to say that I am really pleased with how this card turned out!  When I watched Brandy’s video tutorial, I could just picture how elegant the flower from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set would look on the front of a flip card, and the end result did not disappoint!  If you enjoyed my post, please pin it to Pinterest for me.  I am working on building up my blog following and could use your help in getting the word out!  If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you will find a “pin it” button just below my supply list for the project… and, don’t forget to leave me a comment for your chance to win a handcrafted card in the mail!

Flip Card Tutorial from Brandy Cox

Make a “Mosaic Madness” Wish with Stampin’ Up!

I have been having lots of fun with challenges this week.  I wanted to see how many challenges I could cover with a single card.  It really gets the creative juices flowing!  Today’s card features the Perfect Pennants (wood mount and clear mountand Mosaic Madness (wood mount and clear mount) stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!  I love that the Modern Mosaic stamp set also has a coordinating punch and embossing folder… oh the possibilities! LOL!

If you enjoy this card, please leave me a comment.  I would love to hear what you think.  On March 31st, I will do a drawing and one lucky person who left me a comment will receive a beautiful handcrafted card in the mail!  Also, if you enjoy reading my posts, why not have them delivered to your inbox automatically.  Just click on the “follow” button in the sidebar.

Mosaic Madness4

This card combines three challenges in one:  SCS Sketch Challenge #477,  Color Challenge #467, and SUO #91

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 10.14.17 PM

I began my card with a Bermuda Bay card base, then I dry embossed a Soft Sky panel using the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I adhered this panel to the card base using SNAIL adhesive.  Next, I cut a banner in Midnight Muse card stock using the largest of the Banner Framelits Dies.  I trimmed 1/2 inch off of the banner from each side to make it the appropriate width for my card design.  Then, I added panels of Bermuda Bay and Very Vanilla using SNAIL.  (Before adhering the panels, I inked the outside edge of the Very Vanilla panel using a sponge dauber and my Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin’ Pad.)

Mosaic Madness2

After creating the basic design, it was time to add the details. I used Bermuda Bay ink for all of the stamping in this project.  I stamped the “Make a Wish” greeting from the Perfect Pennants stamp set (available as a bundle with the Banner Framelits Dies for a 15% discount off the regular price; wood mount and clear mount).

Mosaic Madness8

Next, I stamped some of the stamps from the Mosaic Madness stamp set and cut them out using the Mosaic Punch.  (The Mosaic Madness stamp set and the Mosaic Punch are also available as a bundle for 15% off the normal price; wood mount and clear mount.)  For a little bit of “bling” I added some Basic Rhinestone Jewel Accents to my punched pieces.  Finally, I stamped some banners using the Perfect Pennants and Banner Blast (Sale-a-bration item) stamp sets.  I punched out the small banners using the Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item), and I attached all of the detail pieces to the front of the card using  Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Mosaic Madness6

As a finishing touch, I added a Very Vanilla panel to the inside of my card and stamped it with the banner stamps I used on the front.

I am pleased with how this card turned out.  I like that it could be used for a man’s birthday card too.  I tend to make my cards very “girly” so this one is pretty neutral for me!

A “Beautifully Baroque” and “Mixed Bunch” Birthday! – Stampin’ Up!

The card I have created for you today features the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder and the Mixed Bunch stamp set (wood mount and clear mount).  It is not only beautiful, but also very quick!  The best of both worlds for this busy mom and teacher!

Beautifully Baroque Mixed Bunch7

This card is loosely based on the Freshly Made Sketches #124.

I began my card by cutting a panel of Whisper White stock, which I dry embossed using the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder and my Big Shot.  Then I cut my panel into thirds and adhered them to a Whisper White card base using  SNAIL adhesiveleaving about 1/8″ of space between the three panels.

Beautifully Baroque Mixed Bunch9

Next, I cut a thin strip of card stock and adhered a length of Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffle Trim to it using SNAIL.  I layered that at the bottom of my embossed panels, then I stamped my flower from the Mixed Bunch stamp set on whisper white card stock using my Strawberry Slush Classic Stampin’ Pad and cut it out using the Blossom Punch.  For the center of my flower, I stamped a small medallion from the stamp set with the same ink on Strawberry Slush card stock.  The medallion was punched using the 7/8″ scalloped circle punch and layered on top of the flower using Stampin’ Dimensionals and finished with a Basic Pearl Jewel Accent.  I used my Banner Punch (Sale-a-bration item available FREE with a $50 purchase until March 31st) to cut out two small banners and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card behind the flower.

Beautifully Baroque Mixed Bunch6

I finished my card by stamping the “Happy Birthday Wishes” greeting from the Simply Sketched stamp set (Hostess Reward Item) in the bottom corner of the card.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure I got the placement just right.  I just love that tool!

As you can see, this card was very simple to make, but elegant none-the-less.
